After losing all three of their round-robin ties at the Asia/Oceania Zone Group III event in Tehran, Bangladesh were relegated to Group IV after losing to Vietnam. Bangladesh recorded a consolation win on the final day against Kyrgyzstan.
History
Bangladesh made their Davis Cup debut in 1986 and achieved their best result three years later when they were semifinalists in Asia/Oceania Zone Group II. The youngest player to ever compete in Davis Cup is from Bangladesh: Mohammed-Akhtar Hossain was 13 years, 326 days when playing a 'dead' doubles rubber against Myanamar in 2003.
