China P.R. host Uzbekistan in Asia/Ocenaia Zone Group I second round action and will be seeking to gain revenge having lost to their opponents in the first round in 2013. The nations have met seven times previously with Uzbekistan holding the edge in the head-to-head 4-3.

China, P.R. defeated New Zealand in a tie that saw two of the four rubbers played go the distance. Wu Di gave the hosts the lead 36 76(4) 62 16 63 before Zhang Ze came from a set down to beat Jose Statham. The visitors threatened a comeback when they took the doubles but Wu returned to the court to seal victory having recovered from losing each of the first two sets in tiebreaks to put China, P.R. through.
China is yet to play in the World Group but has twice been within touching distance, reaching the World Group play-offs in 1990 and Eastern Zone Final in 1987.
