Spain will travel to Germany for the first tie of their 2014 campaign looking to continue a three-tie winning run against their European rivals.
Last tie 13-15 September 2013
Spain made amends for a shock loss to Canada in the first round with a resounding 5-0 victory over Ukraine in the World Group play-offs. The victory was inspired by Rafael Nadal who, fresh from winning the US Open, won his opening singles rubber and teamed up with Marc Lopez to win the doubles.
Spain have dominated Davis Cup over the last decade, winning five times in 2000, 2004, 2008, 2009 and 2011. Their victory in 2011 came after an enthralling 3-1 defeat of Argentina in the Final in Seville. They also finished runner-up in 1965, 1967, 2003 and 2012.
