Next tie 12-14 September 2014
France will host two-time defending champions Czech Republic in an intriguing semifinal clash in September. Of the 14 times that the two nations have met, each has seven wins, although it was the Czechs who won the most recent clash in 2009.
Last tie 4-6 April 2014
After a disastrous first day, France were forced to come from 0-2 down to defeat a weakened Germany team in Nancy. Julien Benneteau and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga both lost to lower-ranked players in each of the first two rubbers. A victory in the doubles followed by impressive straight sets wins for Tsonga and Gael Monfils on the third day of action ensured France would advance to the semifinals for the first time since 2011.
France are joint-third on the all-time list of champions having won the title nine times, most recently in 2001. They have also finished runners-up on seven occasions, including in 2010 when they were defeated by Serbia 3-2 in the Final.
