Indonesia will take on Chinese Taipei in an Asia/Oceania Zone Group I relegation play-off with the winner staying in Zone Group I but the loser relegated to Zone Group II. Indonesia have a good record against Chinese Taipei, having won all 5 of their previous encounters.

Indonesia's poor record against India continued as they suffered a 5-0 whitewash in their Asia/Oceania Zone Group I first round play-off. Indonesia were unable to claim a set all weekend as India retained their place in Zone Group I for next year.
History
Indonesia has twice reached the World Group, in 1983 and 1989, but has never progressed past the first round. It also competed in the World Group play-offs in 1994.
