Next tie 2014
Monaco will contest Europe/Africa Zone Group II for the eighth straight year in 2014.
Last tie 5-7 April 2013
Monaco held a surprise 2-1 lead over Latvia going into the final day of their Europe/Africa Zone Group II tie after Benjamin Balleret cancelled out Ernests Gulbis' opening rubber win before combining with Guillaume Couillard to win the third and give the hosts a 2-1 lead. But any hopes of winning a place in the promotional play-off for the first time since 2008 were short lived. Gulbis defeated Balleret in the first reverse singles before Andis Juska earned the win for the visitors in the fifth rubber when Monaco's Jean-Rene Lisnard retired while trailing 3-0 in the fourth set.
History
Monaco first played Davis Cup in 1929 and has twice reached the Europe/Africa Zone Group I semifinals, in 1981 and 1985. It was also a Europe Zone semifinalist in 1972.
